　　1. Soft PCB classification

　　Soft PCBs are usually classified according to the number of layers and structure of conductors as follows:

　　1.1 Single sided flexible PCB

　　Single sided soft PCB with only one layer of conductor, with or without a surface covering layer. The insulation substrate materials used vary depending on the application of the product. Common insulating materials include polyester, polyimide, polytetrafluoroethylene, soft epoxy glass cloth, etc.

　　Single sided soft PCBs can be further divided into the following four categories:

　　1) Single sided connection without covering layer

　　The wire pattern of this type of soft PCB is on an insulating substrate, and there is no covering layer on the wire surface. Like a typical single sided rigid PCB. This type of product is the cheapest and is typically used in non critical and environmentally friendly applications. Its interconnection is achieved through soldering, fusion soldering, or pressure soldering. It was commonly used in early telephones.

　　2) Single sided connection with covering layer

　　Compared to the previous class, this type only adds an additional layer of coverage on the surface of the wire according to customer requirements. When covering, the solder pad needs to be exposed, which can be easily left uncovered in the end area. For precision requirements, clearance holes can be used. It is the most widely used and widely used type of single sided soft PCB in automotive instruments and electronic instruments.

　　3) Double sided connection without covering layer

　　This type of connection disk interface can be connected on both the front and back of the wire. To achieve this, a passage hole is opened on the insulating substrate at the solder pad, which can be made by punching, etching, or other mechanical methods at the desired position of the insulating substrate. It is used for double-sided installation of components, devices, and occasions that require soldering. There is no insulating substrate in the solder pad area at the path, and this type of solder pad area is commonly removed by chemical methods.

　　4) Double sided connection with covering layer

　　This type differs from the previous type in that it has a surface covering layer. However, the covering layer has access holes that allow both sides to be terminated while still maintaining the covering layer. This type of soft PCB is made of two layers of insulation material and one layer of metal conductor. Used in situations where the covering layer needs to be insulated from surrounding devices, and also needs to be insulated from each other, with both sides connected at the end.
