A hidden danger of circuit board is called "black disk", which is caused by the chemical nickel gold surface treatment of circuit board manufacturers. This hidden danger usually occurs in batches when products arrive at customers. PCB "black disk" will have a disastrous impact on the reliability of solder joints, cause quality accidents of electronic products, and even cause huge losses to enterprises. However, the quality accidents of "black plate" of PCB in domestic electronic product enterprises are not uncommon
PCB circuit board is the base part of the electronic industry. Almost all electronic equipment, ranging from electronic watches and calculators that can be seen everywhere in daily life to computers, communication electronic equipment, aircraft, radar, etc., will inevitably use PCB as long as there is electrical interconnection of electronic components such as integrated circuits.
Why does a PCB have a "black disk"? In short, the gold plating is too thick, which causes nickel to be oxidized and corroded to form a blackened pad. It will lead to poor pad welding. This is especially true when there are a large number of dense small pad icon devices, such as BGA, QFP, and SOP package devices.
Because the gold deposition time per unit area of small pads is shorter than that of large pads. The thickness of the small pad is enough, but the large pad is not enough. It also needs to prolong the gold deposition time. In this way, when the gold deposit of the large pad is enough, the gold of the small pad is a little too thick. If the gold is too thick, the nickel below will be oxidized.
